Automatic Changeover/Transfer Switch (ATS) Rail Mounted, or DIN-rail dual power changeover switch, is a compact electrical device designed to seamlessly switch your electrical load between a primary power source (such as grid utility) and a backup source (such as a generator, solar inverter, or battery) .

Because they fit standard 35mm DIN rails, these units are highly popular for residential distribution boards, solar installations, and small commercial panels. They eliminate the need for large, traditional bulky changeover panels by integrating the switching logic and mechanical mechanisms directly into a breaker-sized footprint.

Automatic Changeover/Transfer Switch (ATS) Rail Mounted Key Specifications & Working Principle

Operating Speed: High-quality modular ATS units (specifically PC-grade) typically offer a ultra-fast transfer time of under 50 milliseconds (<50ms) . This speed keeps many sensitive electronic appliances from shutting down or rebooting during a power transition.
Self-Throwing & Self-Returning: The internal microprocessor continuously monitors the voltage parameters of the primary line. When utility power fails, it automatically transfers the load to the secondary line. Once the primary grid returns and stabilizes, the unit automatically throws back to the utility source.
Manual Override: Almost all rail-mounted variants feature a physical toggle switch allowing you to lock the mechanism into Manual Mode for safe system maintenance or overriding the automated logic.
Electrical Separation: Built-in mechanical and electrical interlocking safety systems ensure that the primary grid and backup sources are safely isolated, preventing dangerous back-feeding.

Product Classification: PC Class vs. CB Class

When selecting Automatic Changeover/Transfer Switch (ATS) Rail Mounted, pay attention to its structural class:

Feature	PC Class ATS	CB Class ATS
Overcurrent Protection	None (pure switching function). Requires external circuit breakers.	Built-in overload and short-circuit protection.
Short-Circuit Capacity	High short-circuit withstand capacity (10kA–100kA).	Standard short-circuit breaking capacity (typically 4.5kA–6kA).
Mechanical Life	Exceptionally high durability (up to 100,000 cycles).	Standard mechanical life (approx. 5,000–10,000 cycles).
