PG Series Plastic Cable Glands are industrial-grade sealing and strain-relief connectors designed to secure the entry of electrical cables into enclosures, control panels, and machinery . Commonly manufactured from high-quality Polyamide (Nylon 66) or PVC , these glands provide excellent resistance to environmental hazards, mechanical stress, and vibration.

PG Series Plastic Cable Glands Key Specifications & Features

- Ingress Protection: Most premium plastic PG glands carry an IP68 rating , offering complete dust-tight performance and continuous submersion waterproofing.
- Temperature Resistance: Typically engineered to withstand continuous operating temperatures ranging from -40°C to 100°C .
- Chemical & UV Stability: Built using UL-approved materials (such as Nylon PA66 with UL94V-2 or UL94V-0 flammability ratings) that naturally resist salt water, weak acids, alcohol, oils, and UV exposure.
- Integrated Mechanism: Each gland is typically supplied as a complete assembly including the main threaded body, locking nut, claw-clamping ring, and internal EPDM rubber seal .

PG Series Plastic Cable Glands Sizing and Cable Clamping Chart

PG stands for Panzergewinde (a German thread standard). Because PG threads have a shallower thread depth compared to standard Metric threads, selecting the exact gland size for your specific cable outer diameter (OD) is critical.

The table below outlines the standard PG sizing specifications:

PG Size	Cable Diameter Range (Min – Max mm)	Common Applications & Notes
PG7	3.0 mm – 6.5 mm	Small sensors, data lines, instrument wiring
PG9	4.0 mm – 8.0 mm	Control cables, instrumentation panels
PG11	5.0 mm – 10.0 mm	Standard commercial electrical connections
PG13.5	6.0 mm – 12.0 mm	Most popular size ; general-purpose power cables
PG16	10.0 mm – 14.0 mm	Medium power distribution, VFD cables
PG21	13.0 mm – 18.0 mm	Multi-core motor connections, heavy machinery
PG29	18.0 mm – 25.0 mm	Heavy power lines, thick industrial conduits
PG36	22.0 mm – 32.0 mm	Large industrial machinery supply
PG42	30.0 mm – 38.0 mm	High-current main distribution feeds
PG48	34.0 mm – 44.0 mm	Heavy-duty infrastructure, largest series size

Core Applications

Industrial Control Cabinets: Providing safe cable entry points that block dust accumulation in automated assembly lines.
Marine & Outdoor Electronics: Resisting salt-water spray and preventing moisture ingress into junction boxes.
Renewable Energy Systems: Protecting critical wiring hookups in wind turbine routing and solar array combiners.
Vibration-Prone Environments: Utilizing integrated anti-friction mechanisms to prevent the cable from pulling or grinding against sharp sheet-metal knockouts
