A Portable Solar DC Refrigerator / Fridge 50Liters 38W DC12/24V running at approximately 38W on a 12V/24V DC system is a highly efficient solution for off-grid living, overlanding, camping, and remote medical or business use. By operating directly on direct current (DC), it eliminates the energy losses associated with running an AC inverter, making it ideal for pairing directly with solar panels and deep-cycle batteries.

Portable Solar DC Refrigerator / Fridge 50Liters 38W DC12/24V Key Specifications Overview

Capacity: 50 Litres (typically holds up to 60-70 standard beverage cans).
Operating Voltage: Dual 12V/24V DC auto-sensing.
Power Rating: ~38W to 40W while the compressor is actively running.
Average Daily Consumption: Roughly 0.25 to 0.38 kWh per 24 hours (highly dependent on ambient temperature and whether it is set to fridge or freezer mode).
Refrigerant: Typically R134a with an advanced low-power DC compressor.

Solar and Battery System Requirements

To run a 38W DC fridge continuously without depleting your power source, your setup should account for real-world solar conditions:

Component	Minimum Setup (Weekend/Fair Weather)	Recommended Setup (Continuous Off-Grid)
Solar Panel	200W Monocrystalline	300W Monocrystalline
Battery Capacity	100Ah Lead-Acid	100Ah 12V LiFePO4 (Provides 2–3 days of backup)
Solar Controller	30A PWM Controller	30A MPPT Controller (for maximum efficiency)

Operational Tips for Maximum Efficiency

Pre-chill your items: Cool down food and drinks in a home refrigerator before packing them into your portable fridge to prevent the DC compressor from working at maximum capacity.
Avoid AC conversion: Whenever possible, wire the unit directly to your 12V/24V battery bank via heavy-gauge DC wires instead of using an AC wall adapter, which wastes 10-20% of your power in conversion.
Maintain proper ventilation: Ensure the compressor vents are clear. Restricted airflow can increase energy consumption by up to 50%.
